In the heart of Thailand lies Phuket, a destination that enchants travelers with its serene waters and natural beauty. Once dubbed "the beach that was loved to death," Phuket was closed to visitors in 2018 after years of over-tourism caused severe damage. During this time, coral reefs were replanted, and wildlife began to return. Seeing its recovery firsthand was a humbling reminder of nature’s resilience when given the chance to heal.

Our guide shared insights into the protective measures now in place to preserve Phuket. Boats are no longer allowed to enter the bay, with visitors dropped off at a designated jetty. Swimming is prohibited to safeguard the coral and respect the sharks that have returned. These efforts by Thailand’s National Parks Department are crucial in ensuring the bay remains a haven for generations to come.
